Jewellery workshop results.

So the workshop that had been going on since a week got over on Monday with grand exhibition of work we had done and the tools used.

that was a fascinating experience doing all sorts of jewellery. It's not just gold, silver, diamond or platinum. We made jewellery out of bamboo, leather, gems, stones, brass and copper wire and pista shells too :-).

Below images says everything.

Spent the rest of the day watching "Lage Raho Munnabhai". I had not heard of the storyline of the film and hence it gave me a good feeling as it brought Mahatma Gandhi to life. After so many year I have seen Mohandas Karam chand Gandhi in "HINDI" film and that too in a film like this. The topic was very well touched by the director. And the concept presented in a very subtle way which had essence of laughter and direction in it. Today Indian youth has started forgetting this great figure, which has more or less become just a history lesson or an autobiography. The film aptly brings this situation to life and by means of Munnabhai tells how we can bring Mahatma back to our lives not by hanging his photos or putting his idol on street but by doing what he has preached and done. Vidya Balan as ever was looking gorgeous in the film away from glamour though impressive. Her loooooong Good Morning touched the heart. so the film scores way good in terms of providing entertainment and moral.

A multilingual search engine

http://www.bhomiyo.com/

In Gujarati "bhomiyo" means a person who searches, who is aware of the land ('bhoomi' in hindi and gujurati).

So "Bhomiyo" is a misnomer of gujarati word "bhoomi".

Well now it's time that even internation software giants have to enter local market to benefit. No part of the world which has english as first or second language is left untraced. Now it
's time tht these companies go beyond. Microsoft coming with local version of Windows in Hindi is an obvious sign of this. And google too offers search in different Indian languages.

But this site especially let's you make search in different search engine like MSN, Yahoo and Google. so tht's a meeting point of different search engines.

So don't waste time. Just search.

Workshop Week at IDC

We have a workshop week currently going on in IDC.
Different workshops like jewellery design, calligraphy, HCI etc are taking place and giving a chance to people from different streams to peep into other areas.

I have nominated for jewellery design, which I'm very much ignorant about. My knowledge of jewellery does not go beyond ornaments, gold, diamond, platinum and silver. But today I got to know that it's more than that. Even wood, metal, natural things like flower which add to the beauty and give an identity to an individual is termed as jewellery. Well the workshop began with this note and discussion only.

Then we looked at the different tools used by jewellers. Although it was just a limited set of tools, it was quite exhaustive for the workshop. I think it to be a scaled down version of black smith tools. well the effort used here is also scaled down. but the wit is more.

The guide demonstrated making few ornaments like ring, earrings and varied types of design that can be done in few minutes.

Tommorow we will be working on our own design.

Visit to art Gallery.

Well well well. Designers are supposedly artistic also. They should be sensitive to art work and art as a whole.
And as a part of curriculum - Art, Design and Society we are taught (no no no made) to think like that. And today our visit to the art galleries in Mumbai was planned.

We left at around 4:30 in the evening. Though it was kind of education trip we made it a picnic trip enjoying at every turns of the road singing, dancing and joking. Thanks to long traffic queues of Mumbai.

Reached VT station by 5:30 after which comes the some of the good art galleries in Mumbai. National Gallery of Modern Art, Jehangir Art Gallery and Boddhi art Gallery.

Our first hit was National Art Gallery. The images were well displayed on the walls and sculptors were laid on the floors. I didn't like most of them as they didn't made any sense to me. However some of them touched my heart in a way that they used a different kind of medium to draw.
As I came to the final painting which drawed my attention from far the closing bell of the gallery rang. The painting was awesome in it color combination in the grades of green and beautiful composition. It covered different shades of green starting from floroscent to dark green. It had butterfly flying outlined in white. The painting as a whole was energizing and invigorating. It livened up the spirit with green color and composition of different shades. Well I also liked the works of A. Almelkar. He drew paintings with traditional Indian touch in them. Some of them were "Radha" , "Villagers". He used dotted pattern to make the painting outstand.

After that we went to Jehangir Art Gallery where an exhibition by name "Accurately disproportionate or Disproportionately accurate" was going on.
In the entrance of the exhibition a marvellous work of 3d jigsaw puzzle kind of work was placed.
The work at exhibition included paintings with something to say, experiments with light, stone and bronze sculptor and experiments with light and 2d forms to give a feel of 3d. The later was the most amazing thing to see, how a small cut in the paper and light from behind made a 2d work look like 3d.

We departed at 7:15 from there with many staying back to roam around the town.

first one

Well writing in blog is bit like writing your diary and putting down the moments in your life in letters and publish.
though it does not match the fascination of writing a diary which like sketching on a blank paper, online blog does give an opportunity for technological advancements like undo, redo, copy, paste and what not. well your thoughts are available through out the world and there are lot many commentators and spectators of your work too. critics too.

so here goes the blog of my own too.
