What is art?

Trying to find out the answer from common man.
What is perceived as art.
Is it physical or abstract? Is it good or bad? Are there any types?
What effect does it create to the viewer?

These are some of the questions that we have in our mind. But never set out to ask?
Atleast I haven't ever tried. But now as a part of one of my assignments looking at the varied (and weird) definitions of art from people who are not at all related with art (ohh! how do I know who is related to art and who is not). I'm myself not clear.

So the journey begins...

Awesome movie. awesome graphics, awesome music, and awesome fight sequences.

This movie though violent (for weak hearts) gets 9/10 from me. Well 1 mark goes off in creating the realistic views. It comes out that many scenes are worked upon in computer.

The story is based on Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C between Spartans, known for their valour, fighting spirit and tactics and Persians.
The fury in fights, atmosphere of fear and courage have been aptly brought out by use of computer graphics. There are jaw dropping action sequences and sets. And how is that done? u need to see this movie. Would be great to see in theater.

Prime numbers

My friend happened to notice this thing which we skipped.


Those who love primes might have noticed, a rare occasion (once in a
century) has occurred in this year. The LOVE and PRIME came to each
other!!

Team dynamics

One of the important aspect of running a project smoothly and reach success is to have excellent team dynamics. The team members have to work in frequency with same goal in mind. Though they may take different routes to achieve the goal they should keep in mind that in their process the load is not going on one team member. A project or task given to a group cannot be easily achieved if the entire load is taken by one person and others put in their efforts at intervals thinking their contribution is going to drive.
Constant and equal amount of input is required from all the members because in the end it is going to be called a team effort and not individual. And it would be very bad if the project has nearly reached the target just because of one person.

Each member of the team should behave as if family understanding the load of work.

Though this was known to me since my professional life, it struck me once again while working on a project in college.

These are golden rules of making project a success.

Google sketchup

Oh my God!!!

I had always wanted to have such a tool. Modelling 3d graphics was never so simple and effective and faaaaaast.

And this is the outcome of tweaking around the software just for 15 minutes. Imagine what wonders it can do if we take it seriously. Really helpful when we want to project our thought process in space and time.

Flash class

So what if you know something verymuch about a product/software?
You need to share it and as more you share more you learn.

And so I tried to share my knowledge of Flash to my fellow students. It was a great experience teaching and learning at the same time. I felt extremely happy that most of them were able to make out what I was saying and implement.

Hope to conduct more such classes in future.

Class till 1:00

Ony in IDC will you find people hanging around the department making fun and ofcourse doing work at late nights. And it could be as late as 1:00 to 3:00 pm at night. It is a usual scenario here.

And ever wondered what would it be like having classes after dinner and all of you arrive without dinner at the classes. It goes for an hour and all of you including your teachers feel hungry and then we have a dinner bash. All of us dine together and get back to work.

That's what allures the working here and excites.

Bringing developers and designers together

Microsoft has come up with an application suite which allows designers to
work independently from developers and yet deliver the same robut
application in the end.

This suite of application gives power for designers to be developers
without going into the nitty gritty of developing a software. Though it
requires initial level of programming knowledge and know how of some
programming jargons.
